Porcelain and the Tramps

Published by M2J under Bands I Suggest on May 20, 2008

Sadly there isn’t much to say about this artist. From Detroit, discovered in NY, now in LA, the music exists only on social networking websites. The tease of a CD release has been dangled over fans for about a year and a half now. I’m not quite sure what the hold up is, I guess somebody never took an economics class or learned about demand. Anyway, the music is pretty tight, you can hear the 80s influence mixed with a little bit darker/harder edge to it.

Hopefully she’ll smarten up and release a CD soon, either that or she’ll lose all of her thunder and it will be too late. In the meantime you can check her out on myspace. Almost all of her songs that presently exist can be found on her trig profile. Thanks to Ana for the discovery on this one.

Creative Munchies

Published by M2J under Just Some Fun on May 9, 2008

I was standing in my kitchen at about 4 AM needed to indulge my sweet tooth for some reason or other and this is what I came up with:

Yes, that is simply a spoon full of vanilla frosting with chocolate chips stuck in it, a true masterpiece!

The Rosa’s Chicken Sandwich

Published by M2J under Raves on May 7, 2008

I felt the importance of sharing the knowledge of the Rosa’s chicken sandwich with you people today. It also can be referred to as the “chicken bun” or “chicken panini.” Words do not do this masterpiece justice. It’s chicken, either grilled or breaded, with melted mozzarella on it, a tomato, and some kind of special ranch-like sauce. Oh yeah, the bun is made of pizza dough. This thing is serious.

One of my favorite things to do is ask for a side of tomato sauce and dip this delicious mouth-watering sandwich in it. Not only is this thing filling and tasty, it’s only $4.50!! I would like to tell you all that Rosa’s is also a great Pizzeria and has great pasta dishes as well. There are three Rosa’s around these parts, this particular one is located at:

The Birthday Massacre

Published by M2J under Bands I Suggest on May 6, 2008

So sue me, I took the month off. Anyway, I had to talk about these guys eventually, they’re the band of the week!

The original name of the group was “Imagica.” Apparently the name bore a resemblance to another band’s name was switch switched to “The Birthday Massacre in 2000.” “The Birthday Massacre” in 2000. After enough demos were floating around, the band dropped their self-released album in 2002, Nothing and Nowhere. It was in 2005 that Violet would be released in the U.S. and Canada (having been put out by some indie labels here and there already). This album would see the re-release of updated tracks previously found on their demos. With the newer polished works and developing fan base, they geared up for a few tours, and after they were finished, they released their most recent album, Walking With Strangers. This album is good my friends, very good. As I told the lead singer in person (Chibi), it’s the first album that I listen to start to finish on a regular basis, since Michael Jackson’s Thriller.

As far as I can tell, they are definitely rising in popularity. I love to be the one to say “I told you so.” It just so happens that today, yes today, they are releasing an EP for their single Looking Glass. It’s available already on iTunes (I know because I bought it) and will be available in the Zune Marketplace and probably Snocap by the end of the day. If you want a physical copy of the album, it is also available on Amazon.com. As for a sample of their work, you can view the music video for Looking Glass below. Enjoy!
